This is a one-credit-hour intensive course, a learning model on a tighter than normal schedule with more class time each week but fewer weeks. Although taking an intensive class provides for a bit more flexibility in one's schedule, the amount of work required for any given intensive class is as much (if not more) as a traditional class. UT researchers Kucsera, Zimmaro, and Trivedi (2008) found that there is more “bonding” between professor and students than in regular courses, even if they have spent the same total amount of time over a semester. However, intensive courses often require students’ persistence in the learning process. Students who are very self-motivated and look for a learning experience of closeness with professor would be ideal candidates for an intensive course. Please carefully read the syllabus and print a copy for reference. It is the students’ responsibility to follow the directions given in the syllabus. Should you have any questions with the course, immediately contact the instructor. You should receive a response from the instructor within 24 hours during weekdays (M-F). However, do not contact the instructor with a question or problem until you have read your syllabus.
